The Frank Paco Art Ensemble will take the Foyer Session at the Masque Theatre On Sunday September 3, at 6.30pm, .
The band consists of Frank Paco on drums, Brathew van Schalkwyk on piano, Peter Ndlala on bass and Adelia Douw on vocals.
Adelia, winner of the 2015 Open Mic Jazz competition at GrandWest and previously lead singer for the Delft Big Band, is described as having a sultry and spectacular voice. In accompaniment with Frank’s masterful drumming, the session holds much promise.
Audiences can expect be taken on a journey of pulsating rhythms and sultry melodies, infused with jazz elements from across the spectrum to create an exquisite layered fusion. Frank Paco is recognised as one of SA’s top drummers and has played with artists such as Johnny Clegg, Bono, Angelique Kidjo, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Gabriel and many more at festivals and venues such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Festival, the 46664 concert, Manenberg’s and The Orbit.
