The Pro Musica Divina String Ensemble, conducted by Simon’s Town GP and musician, Steven der Merwe, is proud to announce its spring gala concert on Saturday September 24 with an intriguing mix of works plus a world premiere.
The works include the suite from the popular opera Carmen by Bizet; Ravel’s sublime Pavane for a Dead Princess; the Oblivion tango by Piazzolla; a string sonata by Rossinni as well as music by Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Bach.
The evening will also feature the world premiere of Steven van der Merwe’s latest composition, New Light for piano and string orchestra.
The orchestra will be joined by the very talented Cape Town pianist, Albert Combrinck.
The concert, at Simon’s Town town hall, starts at 7pm, with pre-concert drinks and snacks at 6pm.
