Talent and hard work combined in a show at Cafe Roux in Noordhoek recently. The stars of the show were members of the Alas Academy. The private extra-mural performing arts and music academy based in Fish Hoek is run by Amy Leigh Hart, the school’s principal head vocal coach, drama coach and piano teacher. “The evening was jam-packed with original content from the students (ranging between 13 and 18 years old) as well as adapted covers to suit their abilities,” Ms Hart said. “It was magic. The students really stepped up. It was an intimate evening showcasing the academy’s third show at Cafe Roux.” The academy will perform its annual showcase on Saturday September 14 in Simon’s Town.Â
