The Masque Theatre is proud to announce the inaugural running of its New Talent Weekend. This is a festival aimed at giving a platform to young, experimental and cutting-edge theatre makers from the Western Cape. The festival will run from Friday May 13 to Sunday May15.
The New Talent Weekend was born out of a desire to provide a space for undiscovered talents to showcase their new ideas and present never-before-seen works. A call for applications was put out publicly at the beginning of 2016 and the response was exactly what the theatre hoped for – a wide range of different and unique ideas. A panel then selected eight of the most promising applications to perform at the festival this May. These productions are (UN)Locked, The Black Smith, August, With/Hold, Greenbeasts, Wait, Die Laaitie and Rooi Vlaggie.
Over the course of the two-day festival, performances will take place at regular intervals. The individual productions run from 30 minutes in length to just over an hour. Visit the Masque website for the full festival programme.
Ticket prices are R50 to see a single performance and R80 for a double bill. A R250 day pass will get you in to all shows on Saturday and a full weekend pass will cost you R400, allowing you to see all productions, as many times as you wish.
