Additional work has started this week as part of the Main Road reconstruction project in Muizenberg.
Chand Environmental Associates, on behalf of the Main Road team, said that the work included the demolition of the Muizenberg pump station building and the extension of the parking area; the completion of the tree and shrub planting at the parking area, Atlantic Road and the areas opposite Canty Bay, Casa Labia and Bay Road; the construction of the parking area below the retaining wall at Muizenberg Railway Station and modifications to the signal room access; and the construction of a new pedestrian rail crossing at York Road, in conjunction with Metrorail.
Works are scheduled to take approximately two months and will not impact traffic flow or affect the businesses in the area.
