ALAS Academy, based in Fish Hoek, held its annual end-of-year showcase at the end of September at Kommetjie Primary School. With just under 100 students up on stage at different times, each student performed, either singing, or playing piano or guitar as solos or in pairs or with accompaniment. This year the ALAS band. The Distractions, performed live for the first time, playing their own original piece. The two musical performances for the under-12s and the teens and adults were an absolute success! The Academy’s Amy Leigh Vermaak thanks the audience, parents, teachers Jaco Botha and Marie Claire and, of course the performers, some of whom are pictured, for rocking the stage again.
