Scores of people flooded the city’s beaches yesterday, seeking relief from the hot weather.

In Muizenberg, officers had their hands full dealing with beach-goers who were carrying alcohol and drugs.

The officers wrote fines to the value of R21 500 and confiscated dozens of bottles of alcohol.

Abandoned packets of dagga were also confiscated.

The City of Cape Town has advised people not to bring alcohol or drugs to beaches.
