All aboard for adventure

Fish Hoek girl guides and rangers showed off their raft-building skills at the 2023 Kon-Tiki raft-building competition, at the Zandvlei Sea Scout Base from Friday March 17 to Sunday March 19. Twenty-one raft teams and 45 land-based teams competed.The theme was comics and the Fish Hoek rangers were responsible for decorating and painting the team’s Garfield raft, pictured, complete with its own toilet and kitchen. The Fish Hoek girl guides team won the trophy for the best meal, made aboard their raft, and the team came sixth overall. The Simon’s Town girl guides competed in various land-based activities, including trebuchet building, volleyball, tug-of-war, cross-country running, and comic strip designs.
