In anticipation of Mandela Day on Thursday July 18, a non-profit organisation is rallying the community to join its winter blanket drive.
The Care Company operates several senior clubs across South Africa, including Ocean View, Masiphumelele, Vrygrond, Capricorn, Westlake, and Retreat.
“We support over 400 seniors through various social upliftment programmes,” said the organisation’s community project manager Yusra Davis.
“Mandela Day offers everyone a chance to reflect on how they can contribute to community building,” said Ms Davis
“Our vision is to meaningfully enrich the lives of seniors living in the most challenging communities across South Africa.”
The drive encourages donations of blankets and warm clothing.
“Whether you’re a keen knitter or prefer buying a blanket to donate, this gesture can make an enormous difference to someone this winter,” said Ms Davis.
Donation’s can be dropped at the Care Company’s Valyland offices in Fish Hoek.
