Two local free divers found a woman’s body in Kalk Bay Harbour on Sunday July 19.
According to Muizenberg police spokesman, Captain Stephen Knapp, the body has not been identified yet and an inquest docket has been opened.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesman Craig Lambinon said NSRI crews in Cape Town had been alerted to reports of a body floating in the water outside of Kalk Bay Harbour, off-shore of the Brass Bell restaurant on Sunday at 9.55am.
The woman is believed to have been in her 30s or 40s. Her body was brought ashore by the two divers.
Mr Lambinon said local fishermen had reportedly seen the woman in Kalk Bay on Saturday
night, but no one had seen her entering the
water.
Anyone with information about the woman can call the investigating officer, Sergeant Malicent Teichardt, at 021 787 9000.
