Ocean View resident Paul Franke treated local women, who have lost family members to violent crimes, to a braai in the park on Sunday March 10. Mr Franke, who is no stranger to losing family members to violent crimes, said he wanted to start a support group for women to ease their pain as many had not received any counselling. About 15 women attended the braai and could share their experiences with each other while enjoying lamb on the spit and some salads. The food was donated by members of the community. “I want to empower the women by means of group sessions which will allow them to get support from the community,” he said.
