Laerskool Paul Greyling is making seven bursaries available for children from poor communities.
The bursaries are for pupils aged 5 to 9, Grades RR to Grade 3, who want to attend an Afrikaans-medium school.
Principal, Andre Engelbrecht said the school’s first bursary candidate, Amy Atkins, was doing matric this year.
Amy was a Prescient Trust Fund bursary holder in 2013 at Laerskool Paul Greyling and also the first pupil to receive a full scholarship from the Prescient Trust Fund to attend Jan van Riebeeck High school in Cape Town.
“Amy is a flag bearer for Laerskool Paul Greyling’s mission to empower learners from previously disadvantaged communities and is proof of what the Prescient Trust Fund means to disadvantaged pupils,” Mr Engelbrecht said.
Amy is the hostel head girl and achieved national and provincial colours for netball and captained the under-18 Western Cape Netball team.
