The Muizenberg Historical Conservation Society arranged for the firing of one of the cannons from the stoep of Het Posthuys, the oldest building on the False Bay coast, which dates back to1673, during its annual general meeting on Sunday September 2. Members of the society, Peter Wright and Martin Venter, pictured with the cannon, were cannoneers, mounted it and supplied
the wheels in teak. The cannon was fired in commemoration of the Battle of Muizenberg 223 years ago.
