Nerina Gardens retirement village residents celebrated spring on Wednesday September 1 with a garden party – despite the weather not playing along.
Nerina Gardens manager Sandy Lovick said the initial plan was to have the event in the garden but because it was too cold and windy they recreated the garden indoors. Palm Strings duo Mike Hoole and Titia Blake entertained the residents, who danced to Jerusalema.
“Our residents had so much fun. It was so lovely to see them enjoying themselves especially after this difficult time with Covid,” Ms Lovick said.
With 97% of the residents having had two shots of the vaccine, they were celebrating spring and being alive, she said.
“Residents are now able to come and go as they please, although we still limit the number of visitors entering the premises,” she said. “Our residents are encouraged to wear their masks, sanitise and keep a safe distance at all times and especially when they leave the property.”
