The False Bay community collected more than 200 bags of litter on
International Coastal Cleanup Day
Volunteers gathered along a 12km stretch of the False Bay coastline
from Glencairn to Miller’s Point on Saturday to clear litter.
The annual event sees coastal communities all around the world work
together to reduce plastic and pollution in the oceans.
“We need to encourage awareness of the magnificence and fragility
of our unique coastal environment and do all we can to protect and
nurture it,” said Alison Bannister, spokeswoman for Clean Simon’s
Town. “Each one of us can play a part in keeping our environment
clean by taking a refuse bag and glove when they go walking and
disposing of any litter they come across in municipal bins along the
road.”
