Club anniversary

Peninsula Ramblers, a hiking club with members from the greater Cape Town area, held the first of many 70th anniversary events on Saturday February 18. Hike leaders hefted bottles of bubbly and boxes of doughnuts which were handed out to almost 50 members and visitors. They had set off from Ou Kaapse Weg to traverse the waterfall side of Silvermine where they toasted the club at a rock balcony known as Bertie’s Balcony. Other activities planned to commemorate this occasion include burning memories and pictures to a CD; their annual general meeting on Friday March 17; a weekend away; a members’ tea on the official date when the club was named , Monday May 22 and a memorial hike on Saturday May 27 when they trace the steps of the club’s first hike from Kloof Nek to Rhodes Memorial.
