A man claiming to refill fire extinguishers is scamming businesses in the valley, say police. According to Fish Hoek police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Middleton, the man inspects fire extinguishers and tells shop owners they need to be refilled. He then exchanges their fire extinguishers for a “temporary” one and asks them for a R250 deposit for the refill. “He never returns with the refilled extinguisher and shop owners are stuck with a broken extinguisher.” Business owners or anyone with information about the man, pictured, can call Fish Hoek police station at 021 784 2700.
