Constable Thandisizwe Kili, Sector 1 manager at Muizenberg SAPS, was shot and badly injured when he returned to his Khayelitsha home last Wednesday afternoon, August 31.
He was driving a police vehicle as he was on call. Three men followed him into his house. “They shot him in both his legs,” said Captain Stephen Knapp of Muizenberg police.
“He was able to return fire, fatally wounding one of his attackers.”
The other two men fled and at the time of going to press were still being sought.
Constable Kili’s family were home at the time and managed to phone for help.
He was rushed to Melomed Hospital in Mitchell’s Plain.
Captain Knapp said he had visited Constable Kili in hospital to offer his support and the support of the station.
“He is a smart, smart guy and I can always depend on him. Our prayers are with him.”
