The roadworks along the Kommetjie Road just before Compass bakery are shocking. This road is going to get someone killed.
The markings for the road division are either not there or blown away.
The one side of the road is flooded. There are no warning lights at night between the divisions and this is just left like this. The roadworks company should be held liable for negligence.
They have completed the section leading off the Kommetjie Road, which has no traffic on it as yet, and have avoided completing the section where there is traffic day and night. I challenge anyone to travel down this road at night and see how bad it is to make out which is the left lane or the right lane. Must somebody die before we do anything?

Transport for Cape Town (TCT), the City’s transport authority, commenced with the construction of Houmoed Road in Masiphumelele in August last year. The project includes the intersection where the new Houmoed Road connects with Kommetjie Road. If all goes as planned, the project should be completed by October.
TCT apologises for the inconvenience – some of the delays, however, such as the relocation of underground services and inclement weather, are beyond our control. It was foreseen that the resurfacing of the road would be completed by Tuesday August 2, and the contractor has also been instructed to investigate the stormwater infrastructure and to do the necessary repairs to prevent future flooding of the road.
The City takes note of the complaints about the road markings. The contractor has been in-structed to apply tempor-ary road markings to improve the safety along this road until such time as we have applied the permanent road markings by the end of August.
