On Friday February 2, Nerina Gardens Retirement Village staff wore #DefeatDayZero T-shirts to show their commitment to saving water. Unit manager, Myron Jacobs, said they use grey water collected from the kitchen to flush toilets and were in the process of installing a JoJo tank and plumbing in the kitchen to divert grey water into a tank. Another water – saving strategy is to use the oven more and cook less. They have also implemented a wet wipe system as the health and hygiene of their residents are their top priority and have a dedicated team to assist residents with saving water. “Our residents and staff are very serious about saving water,” he said.
