Longbeach Mall was abuzz with activity on Saturday January 19 as community groups and local organisations talked about what they do and how they are planning to improve their neighbourhood by doing one thing in 2019.
The Do One Thing campaign was initiated by Revamp The Valley.
Luke Koeries from Kids Are Kids in Ocean View brought some of the 200 children he takes care of, while Fish Hoek residents, John Shaw and Eva Van Belle, created a display of recycled materials to tell people about their efforts to clear alien vegetation from Elsie’s Peak.
Karen Gray-Kilfoil brought information flyers, examples of non-recyclable and eco brick materials for her table – and was joined by fellow Sun Valley residents who have been working hard to restore the eight parks of the suburb.
Members of the Volunteer Wildfire Services were also in attendance. The next Do One Thing date will be announced soon.
