A double murder on Sunday robbed three children of their father and Ocean View of two community members.
Father-of-three Tido Fredericks, 37, and his 32-year-old friend, as yet unnamed, were shot in Cedarberg Road at noon.
They were fatally wounded after being shot multiple times by a gunman who approached them at their car window.
Both men died in hospital.
Sergeant Leon Fortuin, of Ocean View SAPS, said they were investigating whether the shooting was gang-related or not.
On Friday September 27, four men were arrested and two firearms retrieved in two separate incidents in Ocean View.
In the first incident, police responded to reports of a shooting in Apollo Way.
SAPS officers saw a 19-year-old man running down the road with a firearm in his hand.
They gave chase and caught him further down the road. The man was carrying an unlicensed Taurus 9mm firearm with six live rounds of ammunition.
In the second incident, SAPS responded to a shooting in Leo Road. As SAPS approached, the man ran away, they gave chase, following him into a premises in Leo Road, where they found another two men hiding.
The police searched the premises and found a Silver Star .45 calibre firearm with six bullets.
All four suspects were arrested and detained at Ocean View police station on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
All of the suspects have been charged. They have yet to appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrate’s Court.
Station commander Lieutenant Colonel Monwabisi Buzwayo is pleased that another two guns have been taken off the streets. “These could have been used in more shootings. The shootings have flared up again over the past two weeks, so removing two firearms and arresting the four suspects just before the start of the weekend was a welcome breakthrough,” he said.
