Fish Hoek High School is embarking on a daunting challenge by running a 500km relay in five days from the Cango Caves to Fish Hoek (Cave2Coast) from Wednesday July 19 to Monday July 24.
Ten pupils from Fish Hoek High School will be running a fund-raising relay, in the form of 100km a day for five days in a row. That means the team will be running 10 hours each day, totaling 50 hours by the time they get back to Fish Hoek – a big adventure that will test the runners’ physical and mental endurance.
The team is made up of: Angela Euston Brown, Ashleigh Nicol, Chloe Fisher, Jenna Fish, Tara Asher, Jordan French, Kyle Oliver, Loveday Banda, Martin Beukes and Matthew Carter.
They will start at the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn, and run through the towns of Calitzdorp, Zoar, Ladysmith, Barrydale, Montague, Robertson, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and finally back in Fish Hoek on July 24.
They plan to finish at 2.30pm in front of the school pavilion. The mayors of all the towns have agreed to meet the team as they run through their respective towns, signing the scroll of honour and wishing the runners good luck on their way.
