Five armed men robbed the post office in Fish Hoek Main Road on Monday July 3 and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, police say.
According to Fish Hoek police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Middleton, the robbers entered the post office at around 4.15pm.
“The suspects robbed the branch of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a vehicle, which they abandoned in Fish Hoek. The vehicle, which was later recovered, had been previously reported stolen in the Muizenberg area,” Warrant Officer Middleton said.
SA Post Office spokeswoman Suzie Khumalo confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm that an armed robbery took place on Monday July 3 at the post office in Fish Hoek. No shots were fired and no staff were injured. The employees were traumatised by the incident and received counselling, and we are cooperating fully with the SAPS in their investigation” she said.
