The Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving team is gearing up to compete in the DHL National Championships in Gqeberha this week.
Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving chairman Grant Edwards said this comes after the club’s victory at the provincial championships, where it dominated in the nipper (under 9 to under 14), junior (under 19), and senior divisions.
“The Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club has been actively promoting water safety and surf lifesaving for over 65 years. Their nipper programme has been an integral part of this mission, introducing young children to the ocean and teaching them vital water safety skills,” he said.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the club also promoted a healthy, outdoor lifestyle and community service, he said.
