At Sanccob’s 15th annual benefit auction, held on Saturday August 26 at Protea Hotel Fire and Ice hotel, R256 000 was raised from auctioned goods and getaway experiences, all sponsored to assist the marine conservation organisation with its biggest yearly fundraising
event.
Guests were welcomed by the talented Parklands College Jazz Band, led by Dean Flanagan, while local radio personality, Guy McDonald led the evening’s proceedings as the esteemed master of ceremonies.
Andrew James of Michael James Organisation facilitated a high-spirited bidding session and encouraged bidders to raise their paddles for seabird conservation.
Sanccob’s executive director, Dr Stephen van der Spuy, says, “We enjoy the opportunity to spend time with our guests and also welcome new supporters and corporate partners to get involved in conservation in a unique and fun way. It has been a busy year for Sanccob.
“We have commenced major construction of a new seabird hospital in Table View and we are overwhelmed by supporters, who remain loyal to our cause.”
Last week Sanccob launched its Donate-A-Brick initiative in partnership with Cape CommunityNewspapers, which publishes False Bay Echo, to raise funds for the completion of its new seabird hospital in Table View.
Within two days of the campaign launch, the organisation received enquiries from readers lending their support.
For just R50, you can donate a brick and help Sanccob build a better future for the endangered African penguins and other southern African seabirds in need of care. SANCCOB is counting on the Cape Peninsula to make a donation and support this very important project.
