Gun suspect arrested and charged

Ocean View police arrested a
20-year-old man on Tuesday
September 8 for the unlawful
possession of a firearm as well as the
unlawful possession of ammunition. 

Constables Yolisa Mnyakama
and Eric Duba, who are part of the
Ocean View crime prevention unit,
heard gunshots while patrolling
the area and responded to a shooting incident in Gemini Way at
On arrival, the officers spotted a
man behind the rent office. 
The suspect started to run towards the flats
and one of the officers gave chase
and he was arrested. 
Ocean View police spokesman,
Sergeant Leon Fortuin, said a black
CZ firearm containing five live rounds
of ammunition was recovered. 
The suspect was charged and
appeared in the Simon’s Town
Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday
September 9.
