The Vigis Home of Hope (VHOH) Ocean View Cadets will be selling boerewors rolls on Saturday to raise funds to attend the South African Navy Festival.
The festival will take place from Friday October 4 to Sunday October 6 in Simon’s Town, giving the public a chance to visit the navy dockyard.
Vasco Vigis, who manages the VHOH Ocean View Cadets, said they had been practising during the school holidays to perfect their drill routine.
“This is their chance to show South Africa that Ocean View is more than just a community. It’s a place where hard work, dedication, and discipline thrive,” he said, adding, “We know how to grind out good things despite our challenges.”
The VHOH started the Ocean View Cadets in 2022 to train children aged 7 to 18 to become respectful citizens, free from the influence of gangs and drug abuse.
The halaal boerewors rolls will be sold at 37 Columbia Road from 1pm at R25 each. Orders can be placed with Athena at 083 876 6440 and delivery is available for an additional R10.
