“Megan, if you’re reading this, please know that we love you and hope you’re safe.”
This is the desperate appeal of the mother of Megan Anderson, 26, who left her Fish Hoek home on Saturday December 28 to visit a friend, but did not return.
Her mom, Michelle, explained that Megan had last been seen at about 3.30pm that same afternoon, at her grandmother’s house on Ranger Road in Fish Hoek.
“A nationwide missing persons notice has been issued by SAPS, and the Pink Ladies have shared Megan’s flyer and are actively spreading the word on social media. Friends and family are also doing everything they can to reach out to her last known associates and contacts in an effort to locate her,” Michelle said.
Megan is being treated for depression, her mom added.
“This condition is managed with medication, which she last took on Friday December 27.”
Fish Hoek Community Police Forum chairperson, Andre Blom, said Megan had been “shouting” in the streets the night before.
“Myself and a private security managed to locate her and calm her down a bit. I called one of our counselling assistants to come and help,” Mr Blom said.
They managed to return her safely to the grandmother’s place, where she was living.
“Sadly on Saturday morning, she left and has not been found yet. Her mother was approached and a missing persons case was opened,” Mr Blom explained.
“If anyone sees Megan, please contact Fish Hoek SAPS and or Pink Ladies as per poster,” Mr Blom said.
Megan was last seen wearing black ski pants under a black spaghetti-strap dress with black takkies. She also had a long brown padded jacket with a hood attached to it, with her.
Meanwhile, Fish Hoek police have asked the public not to spread information that is “unsubstantiated”.
“It creates confusion and unnecessary panic,” said provincial spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg.
Sergeant Twigg appealed to anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation or who knows the whereabouts of Megan Anderson to contact Fish Hoek SAPS on 021 784 2735 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
