The Muizenberg Historical Conservation Society is trying to gather an archive of house and building names.
The society wants members and residents to send photos of the name boards of their homes in the Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and St James areas.
The society is aiming to do a sociological/historical survey of the original owners of these houses which will provide it with clues as to where they came from.
Society chairman, Glen Babb, said it has been forgotten by almost everyone that the coat of arms which adorn many buildings in the area, are still valid.
“We should be using the original coat of arms officially as it was registered with the Cape Administration in 1972 and given Letters Patent in 1899,” he said. For more information, call Mr Babb at 021 788 7069 or email babrius@iafrica.com
