More than 180 hikers and cyclists from all over the Cape Peninsula gathered on Fish Hoek Beach on Sunday morning to raise awareness of crime in the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) before hikers climbed Elsies Peak and cyclists rode around the peninsula. Angela Botha, of Fish Hoek Tourism, initiated the event to draw attention to ongoing attacks on hikers and cyclists in the mountains and on the beaches. The hike was organised by Take Back Our Mountains (TBOM), a hiking initiative founded by Taahir Osman to encourage safe hiking by hiking in numbers.Â
