Leon de Villiers, Fish Hoek
Here are a few ideas on how to create jobs, improve living conditions and attract more visitors:
* Remove the train service between Muizenberg and Simon’s Town and replace it with a good bus service (not taxis).
* Replace the railway lines with a bicycle and walking track with intermediate exercise stations, palm trees and restaurants.
* Build a tunnel through the mountain from the Kalk Bay end of Boyes Drive to lessen the amount of traffic going through Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek.
* Where possible, replace traffic lights with roundabouts to lesson traffic congestion.
lWiden Ou Kaapseweg to allow for double lanes both ways.
lDig a channel/canal from Muizenberg to Cape Town, using all the existing water ways right up to Salt River, wide enough to take fishing and sight-seeing boats. Line the water’s edge with restaurants, palm trees and a bicycle track. (This should be easy, since this is where the sea used to be.)
