Increased shark activity

Surfers, paddlers and bathers are being warned about
shark activity, particularly in the Long Beach, Kommetjie
and Noordhoek areas. This is due to a Bryde’s whale
carcass that washed up on Long Beach, Kommetjie, on
Monday,August 10. The National Sea Rescue Institute
and the City’s Marine Animal Stranding Network said the
whale carcass was causing increased shark activity in the
area and caution was advised. The City is arranging to
have the carcass removed.
