The Ocean View community is reeling after the brutal killing of a young mother, last week.
The body of 28-year-old, Gaby-Ann Petersen-van Wyk was found with a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday March 12, at 7:50am on the grounds at the Multipurpose Centre in Ocean View.
Her mother, Jill Petersen, last week told the Daily Voice that her daughter was killed after she smoked drugs she was supposed to smuggle into Pollsmoor Prison.
Ms Petersen said her daughter predicted that she would be killed and told her that “the truth would be revealed” after her death.
However, this week, in another interview with the Daily Voice, Ms Petersen said her daughter was killed because she was a state witness in her own kidnapping case.
Ms Petersen said her daughter had been kidnapped in Fish Hoek about three years ago.
Ocean View police spokesman Sergeant Leon Fortuin said police were investigating a murder case but could not reveal more details.
He said anyone with information could contact the investigating officer Constable Moni at 021 783 8300 or Crimestop on 08600 10111.
Ms Petersen-van Wyk is survived by her nine-year-old son.
