Laura Knight, Muizenberg
I walked down to Muizenberg Beach on Sunday afternoon with the intention of buying an ice cream at my usual place.
When I got there, the queue of about 30 people was daunting, so I decided to forego my ice cream.
On the way back from my walk, I saw that Bootleggers sold ice creams so popped in. I only had R19 in cash, but with the ice cream costing R22 I started walking out of the shop only to be called back by a gentleman who was buying a coffee, and the two assistants.
The gentleman offered me R2 and the assistants gave me a R1 discount, much to my embarrassment.
However, I eventually accepted with great pleasure and thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream, and while I was eating it had time to marvel at the kindness of total strangers.
