The Community and Mental Health Convention will be held at King of Kings Baptist Church in Sun Valley from Thursday October 10 to Saturday October 12.
It will address issues surrounding mental health, including destigmatisation and access to support, according to The Family Counselling Centre, which is organising the event together with Upside Community Services, a non-profit organisation and social justice arm of the Southside Church in Sun Valley.
Upside director Neal Bresler said the convention would feature a programme of five events over the course of three days and sought to “address mental health and social issues within the community by offering accessible and professional support to those in need”.
Key speakers include life and health coach Barbara van Heerden, clinical psychologist Waseem Hava and counsellor and coach Gideon Williams, among others.
