Police have arrested two men in connection with the attack on nine hikers at St James Peak last month.
This follows the release of identikits of two men allegedly involved in the attack near the amphitheatre on Sunday January 13 (“Group Mountain Stabbing suspects identikit released,” Echo February 8).
Muizenberg police spokesman, Captain Stephen Knapp said the two Masiphumelele men, aged 19 and 32 years, were arrested on Sunday and face charges of robbery with a weapon other than a firearm and appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday February 13. They are currently in custody.
Muizenberg SAPS want to commend the detectives investigating the case for their good work and assure the public that no stone will be left unturned to track down these criminals.
Muizenberg SAPS said they are committed to making their community a safe environment for all and with this in mind continue with joint patrols on the beaches as well as the mountain.
