Gillian Anderson was inducted as the Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope’s new president, in a ceremony dubbed “Nanna’s coronation” by her one granddaughter, on Tuesday July 9. Outgoing president, Susan O’Hagan Ward thanked the board and club members for their efforts and support and reported back on a year that she said reflected the Rotary International theme of “be the inspiration”.
Past president Mike Walker gave a talk about cricket and presented president Gillian Anderson with a hat reminiscent of a hat trick in cricket as she is the third consecutive female president.
Long serving Rotarian Kirtikant Patel was honoured as a Paul Harris Fellow for his commitment to the community in past years. As a surprise for him, his daughter, Jayati Patel, baked a cake to look like a Paul Harris medallion box.
