The St James Wellness spa offices were damaged by a fire on Tuesday June 15.
An emergency call was sent out at 9.22am alerting the City’s Fire and Rescue Services that a shop was on fire at 56 Main Road, St James, said Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Jermaine Carelse. Fire crews from Lakeside and Fish Hoek responded to the scene, as did a building inspector.
The first arriving officer from Lakeside Fire Station, Platoon Commander Stuart Jeacocks, told the Control Centre that there was a fire in the shop, which was closed at the time.
The fire was contained to the office section of the Wellness Centre and was extinguished at 10.14am with no injuries reported, said Mr Carelse.
The owner of the building had by then arrived on the scene and when the building had been properly ventilated, crews handed over to the owner.
