Not only was my recycling bags lying outside from Monday to Wednesday afternoon, but no replacement bags were issued. Is this to be the norm? – J. Curtis, Faerie Knowe
In a media release issued by the City of Cape Town on Wednesday July 6, it asked residents who receive a recycling collection service in the far south and other parts of the metro to use their own plastic bags for recycling collections as they are experiencing a delay in the procurement of the regular bags used. In the far south this applies to people living in Fish Hoek, Glencairn, Simon’s Town, Sun Valley, Noordhoek, Kommetjie and Scarborough.
“The City requests residents to please place their recyclable materials in any plastic bag available to them for collection, and our teams will clear these.
“This is a temporary arrangement until such time as we receive stock of the normal bags. The City thanks the residents for their cooperation in this regard,” said the release.
