Ocean View police arrested a 32-year-old man in possession of three firearms on Tuesday November 19.
According to police spokesman Sergeant Leon Fortuin, officers were patrolling Milky Way near Larkspur Court after several shootings in the vicinity, when they saw a man on a corner who ran when he spotted them.
Officers chased the man and caught him further down the road.
He was carrying an unlicensed .38 Special revolver with six bullets as well as ten mandrax tablets and two half mandrax tablets.
After the man told police he had more guns at his house, the officers called back-up and searched the premises.
They found another .38 Special, nine bullets and a Star 9mm pistol with seven bullets.
The man was charged with the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and appeared in the Simon’s Town Magistrates Court on Thursday November 21. Â
