The global Run For The Oceans movement, spearheaded by Adidas, got under way on World Oceans Day on Saturday June 8. More than 200 runners and walkers in Cape Town chose between a 5km or 8km route from St James toMuizenberg and back, collecting 62kg of litter along the way. Among the runners were rugby players Bryan Habana, Damian Willemse, Notshe Sikhumbuzo and Salmaan Moerat and cricketer Laura Wolvaardt. The event was held in partnership with the I Am Water foundation and The Beach Co-Op. Run For The Oceans is a global movement that takes place from June 8 to 16. For every kilometre tracked in the Run For The Oceans Challenge on the Runtastic app, adidas will donate $1 to Parley Ocean School capped at $1.5 million.Â
