Silvermine Academy Grade 8 pupils went on a team-building camp to Knysna and Plettenberg Bay on Monday April 1. They learnt about the Knysna elephants, visited a birds of prey rehab and awareness centre, played paintball, paddled down the Knysna River and visited the Plettenberg Bay Adventure Water Park. Silvermine Academy welcomed Stedelijk College from the Netherlands as part of an annual exchange programme. Later this year, 10 to 14 Silvermine pupils will visit Netherlands. Part of the experience involves a community outreach programme and Stedelijk College raised more than R50 000 to install white boards in the classrooms of Ocean Views Kleinberg Primary School.
Fish Hoek Primary School, Bay Primary School, Laerskool Paul Greyling and other local schools donated Easter eggs to Fish Hoek Lions Club, which then delivered them to less fortunate children in the community.
