Sections of the St James walkway are being closed temporarily for the City to install new railings.
Only the sections being worked on will be closed on a particular day with the road and rail underpasses being used as detours.
Almost the entire route needs the railings fitting to protect pedestrians from unpredictable sea conditions, especially during high tide, says the City.
Mayoral committee member for spatial planning and the environment Eddie Andrews asked the public to consider using other routes while the railings were fitted to minimise disruptions.
“Once complete, the railings will provide a significantly improved coastal walkway to the benefit of all who enjoy this walk along our pristine coastline”
The walkway section between Muizenberg Beach and Bailey’s Cottage will be closed from Monday June 6 to Sunday June 12 and the section between Bailey’s Cottage and St James will be closed from Monday June 13 to Thursday June 23.
