A tip-off led to the arrest of seven alleged poachers on Wednesday December 12 at St James.

The City of Cape Town’s law enforcement auxiliary officers received information of divers who were in the water behind the tidal pool.

They followed up and managed to arrest seven divers.

A total of 66 units of abalone were recovered. Sixty were shucked and six were in a whole state.

Officers also responded to divers in Millers Point, Simon’s Town, but no arrests were made as the divers disappeared in the water.
