Several plant species were planted to replace the gum trees that were removed to make way for the wider roads.

Mayoral committee member for Transport Felicity Purchase visited Kommetjie Road on Friday August 14 with community leaders to view the completed road project with its new landscaping that includes 100 exotic non-invasive gum trees, 650 indigenous trees, 500 indigenous shrubby trees, 5 000 indigenous shrubs, 50 000 indigenous ground-cover plants, including sour-fig cuttings.
