A wanted suspect, who was in possession of an imitation gas pistol, was arrested at the Kalk Bay harbour yesterday.
Members of the local security company alerted police to the 29-year-old man who was sleeping at the harbour.
He was found in possession of an imitation gas pistol which resembled a Taurus 9mm pistol.
He was arrested and detained on charges of being in possession of of an imitation firearm with the intent to commit crime.
The suspect was also wanted on a charge of housebreaking and theft as well as a theft of a motor vehicle case which occurred in Kalk Bay the previous week.
Muizenberg police also thanked the local security company and stressed the importance of working together to fight crime.
