Jubilee Square shone bright on Sunday December 6 after the official switching on of the Christmas lights.
Residents and visitors enjoyed live music on the square by Steven Lyons, and at the Christmas market at the community hall people could shop for gifts while listening to Harry Curtis sing.
My Father’s House sold take-aways to raise money for feeding schemes and Cape Town Tourism’s penguin mascot, Jeremiah Foster, entertained visitors and later braved the crowd in a Santa suit with penguin feet. Ward councillor Simon Liell-Cock was the MC and children were entertained by a fire engine.
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), Cape Medical Response (CMR) and Pisces Divers also made an appearance for the official switching on of the Christmas lights, which were sponsored by resident Eric Laing.
