Patrick Coyne, Fish Hoek
To make things clear, I have no connection to Pick n Pay and do not drink liquor.
I have crossed swords with Donald Moore, who is obsessed with this subject, on this before.
He claims it is an historical issue, (but) just because of a need a hundred years ago there is no need to perpetuate foolish outdated laws.
For example, we no longer have public flogging in Fish Hoek. That is a historical issue that no longer exists.
Joan Moore feels that “cheap” wine will attract the homeless. Pick n Pay are unlikely to sell any product cheaply, it is not good business.
It is the democratic right of Messers Moore and James not to buy liquor in Fish Hoek , I have the same democrat right to buy liquor if I should wish.
