Two men were arrested for the possession of abalone in the Muizenberg area this morning.
Law enforcement officers, who were patrolling in Beach Road, noticed a vehicle skipping a red light.
They followed and attempted to pull it over, but two men jumped out and ran.
The officers gave chase. They caught them and brought the duo back to the vehicle.
Law enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, said: “Inside the vehicle the officers recovered 47 shucked and 575 unshucked abalone. The two suspects, who it is suspected came from Simonstown, were arrested and charged in terms of the Marine and Living Resources Act.”
